Conditions of Play
Per the Laws of the Sport of Bowls - Version 3.2 - 2020, except as noted below:
CANCELLATION:
Game day “no-shows” forfeit their entry fee. The Convener may suspend or cancel play due to adverse weather conditions. If play is cancelled before the game starts, the entry fees will be refunded minus club expenses to players who provide their contact information to the Convener. If play is cancelled after the games have started and two games have been played, prize money shall be distributed. If only one game has been played, expenses will be deducted and the remaining money donated to the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation.
- EVENTS: All NWLBC tournaments are OPEN to members of clubs affiliated with World Bowls.
- Hyack Mixed Triples : Day 1 there are four 10-end games. Day 2 there are three 12-end games.
- Royal City Ladies Triples : There are three 12 end games.
- Marg Bauer : There are four 10-end games.
- Vance McFayden Mens' Triples : There are four 10-end games.
- TRIAL ENDS: Up and back, with two bowls can begin at approximately 8:45 AM and must be completed by the 9:00 AM start.
- TIME LIMIT: 90 minutes for a 10-end game and 110 minutes for a 12-end game.
- BELLS: A bell will announce the start and end of the game. No more jacks shall be delivered after the bell. Ends begun (jack set) can be completed.
- HEAD VISITS: Skips may visit the head before their last bowl. Leads and thirds may not visit the head.
- OUT OF BOUNDS JACK (BURNT): Re-spot the jack two metres from the ditch on the centre line unless otherwise decided by the convenor.
- SPARES: Spares must be approved by the convener.
- SCORING: Teams will be awarded 3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and, 0 points for a loss. Shots are differentials limited to +10 or -10 per game.
- BYE. If a 'Bye' is unavoidable due to an unexpected dropout of a team, the team receiving the 'Bye' will be awarded a win and the average shot differential of all other teams in that round.
- STANDINGS: Ties in standings will be broken using the following: (a) points scored; (b) point differential record; (c) ends won in the last game; flip of a coin.
- SCORE CARDS: At the completion of each game, skips please sign both score cards and winning skips return both cards to the convener as soon as possible.
- PRIZES: The total prizes will be equal to 60% of the entry fees.
- UMPIRE: If no umpire is available, please ask a player in an adjacent rink to measure and make the decision. If any disputes, please contact the convener.
- FOOTWEAR & DRESS CODE: Dress code as described in page 16 of the current V&D Handbook.
- SMOKING/DRINKING: Because of City regulations, no smoking area is available. Accordingly, no smoking or alcohol drinking on or around the greens during the tournament.
- CELL PHONES: Please turn off cell phones or put on vibrate and do not hold telephone conversations during play or on the green.
- INCLEMENT WEATHER: All players must be available for play regardless of weather conditions.
